Review Summary

DuckDuckGo is the default search engine the TOR Browser uses and is known for it’s intense privacy and security. The engine does not profile users, does not record any searches, and will show all the same search results for a specific word on all users through out the world. The Onion URL was launched in 2010 and is great alternative to other search engines not only for the privacy , but as a work-around to annoying security SPAM captchas that tend to be displayed while surfing TOR Browser. Many times when using Google with TOR IP Address, you click correct RECAPTCHA on the buses, building, sidewalk but still fail to authenticate yourself as a human. DuckDuckGo solves all problems.

  1. DDG is not miracle solution to your online privacy DDG is just one service. If you are using DDG in chrome while you are log in your google account, DDG will not help you much with your privacy. As google ads on websites will log you anyway and as your browser will log your activity. You should use privacy based browser. IMHO Firefox with addons (Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin, HTTPS Everywhere, Cookie AutoDelete) is best option.
But your IP is still visible and you can be tracked by it. So you should use VPN service and maybe Tor on top of it. Aletrnatives: Brave, Tor Browser. If you use VPN+Tor you don’t need DDG for privacy, then why to use it?

DDG might not be perfect and you may not trust it, but it is first step in right direction. Their whole selling point is privacy, if they are going to fail that they will lose money, so they even might try their best.
